She was a secretary for the Mississippi Department of Transportation, District 3 Office in Yazoo City, former co-owner of Gateway Broadcasting Co (WJNS – WYAZ radio stations) also in Yazoo City, and a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Columbus. (James) Hall of Columbus, grandson; Michael (Leigh Ann) Nabors of Calendonia, MS, graanddaughters; Aimee (Eric) Yarbrough of Columbus, & Whitney (Joseph) Hurd Pensacola, FL, great grandchildren; Anna Nabors, Hunter Yarbrough, Ava Nabors, Calen Yarbrough, Hayden Joel Hurd, & Conner Hurd, brother' Phillip (louise) Dixon of Benton, MS,sister; Vivian Kramer of Brandon, MS, sisters-in-law Rita Dixon of Yazoo City, & Frances Dixon of Benton. sisters; Elizabeth Rico Brown (Robert) of Carrollton, GA, and Faye Rico Skinner (Robert) of Bella Vista, AR, and brother Billy Rico (Judy) of Batesville, MS. While living in Yazoo City, Hannah was employed at Mississippi Chemical Corporation for many years.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Donna and Jack Bridgers of Yazoo City; his grandparents, Wallace and Bernice Davis, Rosie Humphreys, and Mary Archer; his siblings Ashley Selby (Adam) and Nolan Humphreys (Lindsay); and his nieces and nephews Mabry, Zoe, Hallie, and Tinsley. Hicks 81, of Yazoo City passed away Saturday January 7, 2017 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Known affectionately as “Sweet Pea” to family and friends, she was born August 3, 1914 in Crupp, Mississippi to Boyd Thomas Pettus Sr. Eva lived for many years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she worked for the Louisiana Department of Revenue. Retire from building construction he served in the U. Army, and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. She worked several years as the Bookkeeper at Sunflower Food Store and was a member of The Yazoo City Church of Christ. Pallbearers are: Bill Coody, Jr, Marico Crozier, Jr, Fredrick Van Cleave, Jr , Nicholes Bennett, Jason Wilson, Dewayne Wilson, & Samuel Smith. Services will be Monday December 19 at Hill Crest Baptist Church, Bus Station Road, Yazoo City. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Donna Gail Long Rico. Last, but not least, Hannah was a beloved and devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Yazoo City for 64 years, where she first served in the Chancel Choir and was a pianist and then organist for 40 years. Kelly, her husband of 63 years; her sister Laura Ruth Pitts Nesbit; and her parents.
Shelby Clare was preceded in death by her husband John Edward Book, Sr., her parents, a grandson; Ernest Lyles Book, and a sister; Betty Lightcap Barrier.
A visitation and funeral will be Held on Friday January 20th at Parkview Church of God.
He excelled at sports and particularly loved baseball and football. Service, internment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City. Grand Children: Robert Bradford Van Cleave, William Craig Van Cleave, Charles Page Van Cleave & Joyelle Van Cleave Allison. Pallbearers are her grandchildren; Justin Brown, Gordon Downs, Taylor Wade, Dalton Downs, Corey Frazier and Cameron Lewis.
